GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general guidelines, designs and develops web-based applications for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DARTs) Applications Management Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Designs and develops using languages: VBScript, Javascript, Visual Basic, & Oracle SQL.
  2. Program ASP.NET/ASP web applications using VB/C#, .NET Framework Class Libraries, and JQuery.
  3. Create and consume Web Services in ASP.NET applications using WCF and REST.
  4. Develops internet and intranet web sites.
  5. Assists departments with identifying technical solutions for business issues.
  6. Designs interface of web-based and desktop applications with client server databases.
  7. Performs analysis for problem solving and troubleshooting.
  8. Makes presentations to management, employees, and vendors.
  9. Develops reports, written analysis, and various communications as necessary.
  10. Coordinates design and scope with peer developers, business analysts and clients.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science , Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
  2. Three (3) years of progressively complex development experience in VBScript, Javascript and SQL languages, to include two (2) years of overseeing projects from initiation to rollout (all projects are well organized and have internally documented code).
  3. One (1) year of redesigning work processes to achieve greater accuracy, controls and efficiency. Working knowledge of eCommerce, business process analysis and improvement.
  4. Demonstrated experience in Sharepoint, VBScript, Visual Studio.NET, ASP.NET MVC 4, JavaScript, JQuery, JQuery Mobile, JQuery UI, and HTML5.
  5. Experience developing multi-tier Internet/Intranet applications.
  6. Written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels, both inside and outside of DART.
  7. Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to problems of limited complexity.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to IT Software Engineer *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
