GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Special Events is responsible for leading the planning, integration and communication of all priority Special Events impacting the DART system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for goal development, maintenance, and reporting of the Agency?s annual events calendar ensuring a focus on priority events.
  2. Serves as Relationship Manager and primary liaison to externally-focused major event sponsoring organizations in the DFW region including cities and convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs).
  3. Reports to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Advertising and manages the Special Events team including the Marketing Promotions Supervisor.
  4. Manages the event tracking and volunteer administration to ensure updates are captured and communicated internally.
  5. Provides appropriate and timely updates to Agency senior management team (SMT).
  6. Works with all internal departments and representatives including Community Affairs, Government Affairs, Service Planning and Marketing Promotions to ensure advance planning and flawless logistics management.
  7. Serves as project champion and team leader on cross-functional special events taskforce.
  8. Accountable for providing project budget reports, data analysis, ridership and key learnings consistent with the Agency?s Strategic Plan, and the department annual work program.
  9. Coordinate art approvals and cost estimates obtaining timely client approvals. Works with appropriate budget personnel to ensure adherence to budget requirements.
  10. Coordinate and conducts meetings to develop key marketing strategies for projects.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, or related field or comparable level of professional experience.
  2. Ten years experience in event management, coordination and logistics, account management in a marketing advertising environment.
  3. Advanced interpersonal skills to effectively and sensitively interact with all levels of employees, both inside and outside of DART.
  4. High level of analytical ability required to develop complex of media, marketing and advertising strategies.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Experience managing people directly and/or leading and influencing teams.
  7. Planning and organizational skills.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to AVP Marketing *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
