GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of accounting duties. Supports major accounting areas including Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Escheatment and other accounting functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for various accounting duties including assisting with accounts receivable and cash processing. Prints and mails customer invoices and statements. Assists with accounts receivable payment application, researching and handling customer payments.
  2. Assists with cash functions by processing cash transactions and helping with the bank reconciliations. Maintains relevant schedules and databases to support billing and revenue recognition.
  3. Assists with maintenance of fixed asset records by making additions, adjustment and disposal entries into the asset management system.
  4. Provides support for the Fixed Asset Function by assisting accounting with bi-annual fixed asset count; Coordinates the fixed asset count with fixed asset custodians and personnel involved in the count. Updates and maintains the Asset and Vehicle Manager.
  5. Maintains licenses for all DART-owned vehicles; Processes all paper work and coordinates issuance of licenses with DMV and the State of Texas; Responsible for filing and ensuring receipt of title for each vehicle.
  6. Coordinates issuance of titles and required paperwork during auctions; Ensures that DART receives the appropriate paperwork, signatures, etc for auction and title issuance; Reconciles payment with auction records.
  7. Assists with the escheatment process and reporting of unclaimed property to the State of Texas.
  8. Responsible for management, storage and retrieval of accounting documents in accordance with DART retention policy.
  9. Assists with the preparation of fuel related tax returns and year-end audit activities.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.
  2. Three (3) years of accounting experience or related field.
  3. Understanding of basic principles of accounting, along with common accounting standards.
  4. Must have a high level of competency with Excel; Must have strong computer skills; Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, and database. Typical office equipment such as copier, typewriter, calculator, facsimile, etc.
  5. Knowledge of accounting systems and database concepts.
  6. Analytical ability to find solutions to financial, professional, and administrative problems.
  7. Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
  8. Can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things done. Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal. Uses resources effectively and efficiently. Arranges information and files in a useful manner.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to AVP Controller *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
