GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for supervising fare collection equipment repair and service functions. Supervise mechanics and technicians responsible for servicing, repair, and inspection of revenue collection equipment for Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) Revenue Systems Section of Finance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises personnel involved with the repair of DART Revenue Equipment to ensure compliance with all DART Standard Operating procedures, DART Standard Practice Bulletins, and Equipment Manufacturers Specifications to include inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance; assist staff with repair diagnosis; provides support on special maintenance projects as requested.
  2. Supervises personnel responsible for servicing vending equipment, bus yard control, count-room tasks, and fare equipment repair dispatching.
  3. Interviews, selects, develops, trains, supervises, evaluates, counsel,s and if necessary, recommends termination of subordinate personnel in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines to include EEO/AA program goals and objectives.
  4. Assists section manager with his/her administrative responsibilities as it relates to labor relations, and the administration of service and consultant contracts; understand, execute, and recommend changes to policies and procedures established by Senior Management.
  5. Provides leadership and assistance during development and facilitation of maintenance tests, campaigns, and strategies; opens work orders and check recent repair history using computer terminal; ensure appropriate records are maintained pertaining to work performed.
  6. Performs project/program and performance management functions; serves as project manager as assigned; performs needs assessments, develops technical objectives, and technical procedures.
  7. Schedule Electronic Revenue Equipment for condition-based and corrective based maintenance; make work assignments to best utilize human resources to meet equipment requirements for daily service needs; verify daily time worked by assigned staff.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical, Mechanical or other related technical field.
  2. Four (4) years progressive responsible experience in electronic repair and maintenance in a technical environment on Ticket Vending Machines and Fare Boxes and associated equipment utilized within DART.
  3. Personal computer (PC); software applications such as Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, data base; typical office equipment such as copier, calculator, typewriter, facsimile, etc.
  4. Valid Texas Drivers License Class C, no Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) conviction within the last sixty (60) consecutive months, not more than one (1) DWI on driving record, and not more than three (3) convictions of moving violations within the last thirtysix (36) consecutive months in order to operate DART vehicles.
  5. Applicants and employees in these designated safety-sensitive positions are subject to DOT/FTA regulations which include DOT preemployment drug testing and random alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.
  6. Incumbents are subject to the federal drug and alcohol testing regulations of safety sensitive positions.
  7. Ability to work irregular hours and irregular days off.
  8. Ability to use equipment, machinery, tools, fire, and shop safety devices.
  9. Operate DART vehicles as required.
  10. Physical ability to be mobile and very frequently, more than 50% of work time, lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds such as parts, small hand tools, and equipment repair equipment.
  11. Analytical skills to gather and interpret data, and find solutions to complex technical problems.
  12. Ability to comprehend complex materials and concentrate on details.
  13. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of supervisory and non-supervisory employees, and others both inside and outside of DART.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to Manager Revenue Finance *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
