GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Training Specialist will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and administration of a variety of programs offering operations employees sustainable learning experiences, through onboarding and job specific operations skills training in the Transit Operations Academy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform assessments to determine the development needs for the Operations management team.
  2. Determine the effectiveness of current operations development programs are meeting department needs; redesign current development programs as appropriate to drive higher impact offerings.
  3. Craft Operations Department development architecture that is linked to talent management and succession processes to ensure we are making differential development investments in key talent.
  4. Provide ongoing consultation with management on development opportunities.
  5. Develop and implement methods for evaluation of training program effectiveness and ROI.
  6. Conduct training session for varied target audiences, with the ability to utilize resources to promote a blended learning environment.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors degree from accredited college or university in, Human Resources, Training, Business Administration or related field.
  2. Three (3) years experience in the development of programs/people in a transit or public agency environment.
  3. Advanced computer skills required and ability to design eLearning training processes.
  4. Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and One Drive.
  5. Advanced Windows-based computer skills preferred and ability to learn eLearning training processes.
  6. Advanced working knowledge of audio/visual equipment.
  7. Knowledge of diagnosing organizational/group/individual development needs.
  8. Knowledge of adult learning principles and practices.
  9. Excellent analytic and communication skills.
  10. Results driven, high energy and motivation.
  11. Proactive, approachable, able to command respect of senior business leaders, peers, and subordinates through leadership, intelligence, hard work, and presence.
  12. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to Sr Mgr Bus Services *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
