GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs all functions necessary to process cash and coin revenue generated by operations once those funds are delivered to the company Count Room at headquarters. This includes counting of revenue funds, collecting data, entering data into computer system(s), and preparing the funds for pick-up by armored car for deposit at the bank. This position is responsible for loading coins into ticket vending machine components. Some aspects of this position can be physically demanding, and some require at least average computer skills. This position is in a highly controlled environment, and strict adherence to established policies and procedures is required in order to maintain physical security over DART funds, the relevant data, equipment keys, combinations and locks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Removes coin and currency from all fare collection components. Reconciles cash count and prepares bank deposits. Reconciles, resets, and refilsl all fare collection and disbursing components: inspects all components ensuring all vital operating and security parts are functioning properly.
  2. Straightens, stacks and counts currency; Prepares documents for armored car pick-up and deposit
  3. Operates Cummins high speed coin sorter, and Cummins 2/9 pocket currency counter/sorter.
  4. Processes coins through sorting and counting machine, and prepares bags according to depository specifications.
  5. Demonstrates data entry accuracy and adherence to procedures in the use of all automated systems.
  6. Prepares and maintains a variety of reports related to daily processing of components.
  7. Prepares inventory of funds in vault and assists in month-end verification process.
  8. Develops Paratransit count data used for contractual reimbursement calculations.
  9. Performs all drawdown requests (including federal) from the Grants Manager.
  10. Researches all refund items requested by Customer Service, Transportation and Revenue.
  11. Demonstrates the ability to maintain fiduciary obligations in handling materials and information of a confidential nature.
  12. Performs light maintenance on coin and currency counting machines.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. High school or general education diploma (GED).
  2. Four (4) years of satisfactory full-time revenue processing experience in a large-sum money room or vault involving the operation of high-production coin sorting and/or currency processing machinery.
  3. Proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and software applications such as spreadsheets.
  4. Ample wrist, hand, and finger dexterity to operate machinery and count currency and coin by hand; Must be able to visually examine objects and machinery
  5. Pass background investigation and credit reference check in order to handle money.
  6. Must wear approved safety shoes and uniforms during performance of duties. Subject to periodic unannounced searches of his/her person and belongings.
  7. Ability to perform repetitive lifting of objects weighing up to 55 pounds, pushing carts weighing up to 1,000 pounds and performing bending and standing duties for a majority of the work shift on those days when they are responsible for one of the rotating assignments.
  8. Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal. Uses resources effectively and efficiently. Arranges information and files in a useful manner.

Reports to Manager Revenue Finance *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The environment is HVAC regulated and has no natural light. It is monitored by closed-circuit high noise, high dust/dirt, HVAC regulated environment with no natural light. May also be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, The employee is required to observe all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and to use all protective clothing and devices provided at all times and in all DART locations
