GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager Creative Services; concepts, designs and produces graphic design solutions for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Marketing and Advertising to include DART publications, Annual Reports and newsletters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops concepts, designs, and produces art for advertising, publications and collateral projects.
  2. Assist the Senior Graphic Designer or Copywiter in presenting concepts and designs.
  3. Art direct photography with with staff photographer.
  4. Manages multiple projects deadlines.
  5. Maintains graphic projects folders for assigned projects.
  6. Maintains confidential materials and information.
  7. Records time spent on projects in traffic software.
  8. Remains current on industry trends.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. 
Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Graphic Design, Communication Design or related field.
  2. Minimum of five (5) years graphic design experience in an advertising agency, graphic design studio, in-house studio or as freelance designer.
  3. Highly proficient in Macintosh OSX, Adobe Creative Suite CS6 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word); experienced with Prezi.
  5. Knowledge of fonts and typography, color calibration, web graphics, specialty items, art and maps.
  6. Knowledge of the CMYK printing process and preparing digital files for vendors.
  7. High level of analytical skill to find solutions to complex technical problems.
  8. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of supervisory and non-supervisory employees, vendors, consultants and others both inside and outside of DART when interacting in meetings, assisting customers with graphic needs.
  9. Ability to write clearly and succinctly in e-mail and other job-related verbal communications.
  10. Is good at learning new industry, company, product, or technical knowledge. Does well in technical courses and seminars.
  11. Ability to use his/her time effectively and efficiently.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to Director Creative Services *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
