Salary will range from $48,721.00 to $70,888.00 will be relevant to either a I, II or III slotting. MS II: Bachelors Degree or equivalency, 15 college credit hours, and 6 years progressive experience in designated field of expertise, to include 3 years overseeing work of support/subordinate staff. MS III: Bachelors Degree or equivalency, 30 college credit hours, and 8 years progressive experience in designated field of expertise, to include 5 years overseeing work of support/subordinate staff.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Develop, manage and conduct a variety of training curriculum and projects related to maintenance training for Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) Maintenance Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs routine supervisory duties related to maintenance service functional area of assignment; provides support on special maintenance projects.
  2. Performs needs assessment, develops training objectives, and technical tests.
  3. Functions as an instructor in areas of specialty or as assigned.
  4. Uses a variety of DART specific computer applications.
  5. Uses computer applications (such as Adobe Premiere and Adobe Captivate) to create online or computer based training.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation, or field of expertise (curriculum development, engineering, heavy equipment, automotive, computer technology, electrical, electronic, occupational technology, etc.).
  2. Four (4) years progressive maintenance experience in a technical environment to include experience in a maintenance area on equipment (e.g., LRT system, coach maintenance, heavy equipment, LRT vehicle, or maintenance support) utilized within DART.
  3. Demonstrated ability to conduct training effectiveness evaluations.
  4. Demonstrated ability to develop and test conceptual ideals into Training Plans, Facilitator Guides, Lesson Plans, Measurement Devices and Learner Guides.
  5. Ability to demonstrate a fiduciary obligation to section, division, department, and DART in handling materials and information of a confidential mature.
  6. Analytical ability to find solutions to interpersonal, professional, technical and administrative problems.
  7. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate all levels, both inside and outside of DART.
  8. Proficiency using a personal computer (PC) to include software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database; knowledge of audio visual and instructional equipment and processes.
  9. Must have a valid Texas Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B with Passenger and air brakes Endorsements, no DWI/DUI conviction within the last sixty (60) consecutive months, not more than one (1) DWI/DUI on driving record, and not more than two (2) convictions of moving violations within the last thirty six (36) consecutive months on driving record in order to operate DART vehicles. Must obtain CDL within ninety (90) days upon hire.
  10. Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical (medical) examination, which includes a drug screen in order to operate DART revenue and non-revenue vehicles; incumbents are subject to the federal testing regulations of safety sensitive positions, which include random alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.
  11. Ability to work irregular hours and to be available on short notice; must be able to travel to offsite locations, which may be out of the country, state or county for periods of time.

Reports to Sr Mgr Bus Maint. Training *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
