GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general guidelines, designs and develops web-based applications for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Applications Management Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops web applications using MVC, C#, Entity Framework and .NET Framework Class Libraries.
  2. Creates and consumes Web Services in ASP.NET applications using WEB API, WCF and REST.
  3. Develops in an agile environment.
  4. Develops internet and intranet web sites.
  5. Performs analysis for problem solving and troubleshooting.
  6. Develops reports, written analysis, and various communications as necessary.
  7. Coordinates design and scope with peer developers, business analysts and clients.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors degree from a accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  2. Five (5) years of progressively responsible complex development experience in Microsoft.Net Framework to include three (3) years of developing with web based applications and to include minimum of 6 months experience using Visual Studio IDE development tool within an enterprise development team; minimum of 6 months experience using Team Foundation Server (TFS) or Visual Studio Online (VSO) specifically to manage source code and a minimum of 6 months of development experience working with the Bootstrap framework or equivalent UI framework. (A minimum of 6 months experience working in an agile development environment with experience in Microsoft Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) preferred.)
  3. Demonstrated understanding in the concept of developing multi-tier Internet/Intranet applications.
  4. Demonstrated experience in Sharepoint, VBScript, ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript, and JQuery.
  5. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
  6. Ability to make good decisions (without considering how much time it takes) based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment). Most of his/her solutions and suggestions turn out to be correct and accurate when judged over time. Sought out by others for advice and solutions.
  7. Ability to pick up on technical things quickly. Can learn new skills and knowledge. Is good at learning new industry, company, product, or technical knowledge. Does well in technical courses and seminars.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to IT Software Engineer *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
