GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for reviewing business processes to identify and address operational, financial and system inefficiencies. Supports Accounting functional team with new system implementations and upgrades. Researches technical accounting issues, tax laws and regulations and provides support to management staff on accounting and tax treatment. Performs analysis, ad hoc financial reports, and interactive dashboards, visualizations, and business tools for use across the organization to provide insights on operational and strategic decisions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identifies opportunities for automation, process improvements, re-engineering, and elimination of redundant processes through business and systems process analysis and design.
  2. Partners with internal and external customers to ensure that processes meet long term business strategies. Focuses on quality improvement, data reliability, and integration of new systems and processes with existing ones.
  3. Supports accounting functional teams with new system implementations and upgrades. Documents business processes and system requirements, prepares gap analysis, develops test scripts, performs system testing, creates user guides, conducts training for end-users, troubleshoots and resolves problems; provides maintenance and set-up recommendations for more efficient processing.
  4. Executes queries and creates ad hoc financial reports to provide insights on operational and strategic decisions.
  5. Works with cross functional teams and departments by providing data support to measure results and performance.
  6. Develops business processes to enhance controls and efficiency; Assesses current controls and assists with documentation of current processes and control points;
  7. Creates interactive dashboards, visualizations, and business tools for use across the organization
  8. Researches, analyzes, and interprets tax laws and regulations and works closely with outside tax consultants to prepare and maintain required federal and state tax related returns, reports and related materials. Prepares technical reports on how related tax laws impact the organization.
  9. Assists in researching technical accounting issues and documenting conclusions. Provides technical reports, with interpretation, and direction of accounting treatment for transactions.
  10. Supports overall efforts to develop efficient reporting strategies including automation and simplification of reporting processes.
  11. Develops, integrates, and disseminates financial data analytics to measure performance and assist with strategic decision making.
  12. Utilizes data visualization and advanced analytics to draw correlations between data trends.
  13. Provides research and special project support, provides technical assistance to internal staff and other special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting , Business or related field.
  2. Six (6) years of experience managing large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business to include three (3) years of experience with information systems.
  3. Must have proficiency with SQL, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies in order to perform data analysis.
  4. Expert-level analytical and financial modeling skills
  5. Strategic thinking; Great presentation skills; Ability to influence and persuade.
  6. Strong understanding of GAAP.
  7. Excellent time management and organizational ability; Ability to multitask and meet constant deadlines.
  8. Ability to create effective Power point presentations, work with Word, and Outlook.
  9. Strong knowledge of major statistical software packages such as SAS, R, Stata, or SPSS.
  10. Familiarity with maintaining relational databases (e.g., Microsoft Access, MySQL, IBM Db2).
  11. Technical expertise in creating multivariate regression models that identify relationships of multiple variables.
  12. Proficiency with personal computer (PC), client/server, internet/intranet, and software applications including word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and database.
  13. Ability to gather user requirements, ensure development tasks are meeting those requirements, test and resolve issues, and prioritize development.
  14. Ability to commit to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  15. Ability to write clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles. Can develop messages that have the desired effect.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to AVP Controller *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
