GENERAL SUMMARY:
Independently assists customers with understanding how to use DARTs transportation system and correctly assuming the responsibilities of independent travel on DARTs transit system using some and/or all modes of travel (bus, rail, TRE, etc.). Accompanies customers on DARTs fixed route system. Assists customers with determining route and mode of travel. Manages trip by trip screening for Paratransit riders with conditional eligibility. Performs audit functions and may serve as mystery riders on Paratransit Services. Performs other Mobility Management Programs functions as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists with the intake process for eligibility determinations.
  2. Assesses travel training candidates paths of travel for environmental barriers, based on each individuals disabilities.
  3. Manages Paratransit riders electronic file to determine trips that are/are not eligible for travel on Paratransit services. Ensures that electronic file matches field research with regard to travel path and barriers unique to each individual.
  4. Travels alongside customers to or from a location on DARTs fixed route buses and trains.
  5. Works with customers throughout each phase of trip planning including how to read DART bus & train schedules, system maps, boarding and alighting procedures, fare media, and highlighting accessibility features.
  6. Gathers bus route and/or rail schedule information using a variety of techniques to include, but not limited to, DARTs on-line trip scheduler, DARTs Customer Service Center, paper schedules, etc.
  7. Fills out daily time logs and reports.
  8. Reports/communicates problems, concerns, etc. to supervisor on a daily basis.
  9. Promotes DARTs Mobility Management Program and uses all of DARTs modes of transportation.
  10. Performs random audits from a customer service perspective of DARTs Paratransit services, including serving as mystery riders as necessary.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Allied Health Science, or related field.
  2. Two (2) years experience working with people with disabilities or older adults in a training capacity, classroom instruction, and/or working with patients/students and their family, advocates, and support agencies.
  3. Personal computer (PC) proficiency and software application to include word processing, spreadsheets, database, and PowerPoint.
  4. Valid Drivers License. No Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) conviction within the last 60 consecutive months; not more than one (1) on driving record. No more than three (3) moving violation convictions within last 36 months to operate DART non-revenue vehicle.
  5. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
  6. Ability to be action oriented and full of energy for the things he/she sees as challenging. Not fearful of acting with a minimum of planning.
  7. Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. Probes all fruitful sources for answers. Can see hidden problems. Is excellent at honest analysis.
  8. Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles. Can get messages across that have the desired effect.
  9. Ability to pick up on technical things quickly. Can learn new skills and knowledge. Is good at learning new industry, company, product, or technical knowledge.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to Sr Mgr Mobility Mgmt & Plng *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided. At least 85% of time is spent outdoors, in all types of weather conditions.
