GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides entry level technical support for the enterprise network. Administers the enterprise network and provides technical expertise to internal/external contacts in a 24 hour 7 days a week operation. Administers the Agency?s cellular wireless program. Administers the Agency?s cabling plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs installation, configuration, and management of the enterprise network.
  2. Provides Tier 1 support for the enterprise network; including network switches, routers, wifi, firewalls, and vpn.
  3. Provides cable plant design, installation, and maintenance, mobile device distribution and administration, and UPS maintenance.
  4. Addresses and resolves technical issues with internal/external customers, including assisting with problems escalated beyond Tier 0.
  5. Develops and maintains precise documentation for the Enterprise network, the Agency cellular wireless program, and the Agencys cabling plant. Prepares reports and presentations for management review.
  6. Adheres to enterprise strategies and plans for network administration and security. Prepares and maintains device configuration, including routine backups, long-term archives, and disaster recovery support. Collaborates in the development and deployment of the Disaster Recovery Plan.
  7. Adheres to Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) standards and guidelines.
  8. Participates in change management and incident review as needed. Document changes and actions in change management system and ticketing system.
  9. Monitors and analyzes enterprise network performance and security. Ensures that network performance supports enterprise applications. Develops and implements network performance and security improvements.
  10. Provides remote support as necessary.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related field.
  2. Four (4) years of functional experience supporting enterprise networks.
  3. A+ Network certification preferred.
  4. Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) knowledge and Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) knowledge and ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
  5. Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of enterprise network hardware, software, and associated equipment.
  6. Ability to work variable work hours. Available in the event of required emergency response.
  7. Exemplary analytical and creative skills to find solutions to technical problems.
  8. Ability to document technical issues using proper technical writing basis requirements.
  9. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
  10. Ability to pick up on technical things quickly. Can learn new skills and knowledge. Is good at learning new industry, company, product, or technical knowledge. Does well in technical courses and seminars.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to Sr Mgr-Network Engineering *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
