GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general guidelines, monitors and operates agency enterprise computer systems to maintain appropriate levels of service and availability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for service performance and availability monitoring, meeting scheduling requirements, collaborating with and escalating to engineering and incident management to ensure swift return of service levels.
  2. Uses all available tools to monitor and isolate outages across all product lines.
  3. Acts as a liaison to identify, correlate, provide local troubleshooting, communication and certifies customer impact.
  4. Monitors server and network performance infrastructure (LAN and WAN) including applications, databases, and console messages, and take appropriate action.
  5. Operates software production and testing environments including version/change control, enterprise backup and restoration procedures, including off-site media rotation and disaster recovery.
  6. Sets up application/user accounts. Deploys net new VM servers or P2V existing ones. Sets up and administers network printers and other output devices. Maintains application modules and updates as needed.
  7. Provides services 24 hours, 7 days a week, and must be available to work rotating shifts as assigned to meet operations needs.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Associates Degree from an accredited college university or technical school in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  2. Three (3) years experience and current A+, MCP, MCSE, certification or Lexmark/Xerox/HP certification, within last 5 - years is required.
  3. Two additional certifications are required - Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCAS/MOS) 2007 or later and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) 2007 or later. Certification must be obtained within five (5) months of appointment for continued employment. Certifications must stay current with industry standards.
  4. Must have strong electro-mechanical aptitude.
  5. Must be able to be on-call on a rotating basis or as assigned by supervisor.
  6. Must be able to lift 50 pounds safely.
  7. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to Applications Administrator *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
