GENERAL SUMMARY:
To provide technical programming and design expertise in enterprise application environments. The IT Senior Programmer Analyst must understand and conceptualize applications from both a technical/programming perspective and a business point of view. This is a leadership position and expected to mentor less senior individuals and excel at problem solving. The position will recommend changes in programming, configuration and workflow interfaces in order to complete business objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead role in development projects and provide leadership within development projects.
  2. Analyzing business application requirements for functional areas such as finance, marketing and Human Capitol.
  3. Designs and performs maintenance on existing applications, including modifications to meet new or changing needs.
  4. Manages work through the project including managing others project workload.
  5. Performs duties related to the installation and creation of new application software, including evaluation and configuration of new packages and upgrades to existing packages.
  6. Documents requirements according to DART standards and best practices.
  7. Analyzes potential areas of automation to determine needs and recommend possible solutions, including design of systems and individual programs and file structures. Develop methods for improving/optimizing user interfaces and maintenance methodologies.
  8. Performs application integration with other DART ERP systems including but not limited to Lawson, Spear and Trapeze using standard DART software and hardware systems. Performs complex programming assignments, including design, testing and documentation.
  9. Analyzes software problems reported by users to determine cause and recommend solutions.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field.
  2. Seven (7) years experience in applications development using ERP solutions.
  3. Working knowledge of an object orientated programming language similar to C# or Java.
  4. Knowledge of scripting languages (PHP, PERL, Python, VBScript) a plus.
  5. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
  6. Ability to make good decisions (without considering how much time it takes) based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment). Most of his/her solutions and suggestions turn out to be correct and accurate when judged over time. Sought out by others for advice and solutions.
  7. Ability to pick up on technical things quickly. Can learn new skills and knowledge. Is good at learning new industry, company, product, or technical knowledge. Does well in technical courses and seminars.
  8. Ability to be able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles. Can get messages across that have the desired effect.
  9. Ability to quickly find common ground and solve problems for the good of all. Can represent his/her own interests and yet be fair to other groups. Can solve problems with peers with a minimum of noise. Is seen as a team player and is cooperative. Easily gains trust and support of peers. Encourages collaboration. Can be candid with peers.
  10. Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. Can see hidden problems. Is excellent at honest analysis. Looks beyond the obvious and does not stop at the first answers.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to EVP Admininstrative Officer *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
