GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Manager of Enterprise Architecture works with members of a world class team to translate DART business strategy and processes into well-defined future capabilities and technology plans to achieve DARTs mission. Engaging business and enterprise systems leaders on a daily basis requires leveraging strong communication and facilitation skills. The leader of an architecture community of practice has the responsibility for the continual development, management, communication and governance of the DART Architecture. Responsibility for managing a team of architects to ensure that best practices are following in strategically developing and enhancing the DART digital ecosystem.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manages the Enterprise Architecture team, directs work assignments, and initiates personnel actions, including hiring, reviewing, promoting, and counseling in order to maintain a qualified and motivated staff. Develops individual staff development plans and performance management reviews.
  2. Coaches, guides, and mentors Architects to be more effective in consulting, designing, and prototyping feasible solutions in an Agile environment.
  3. Standardizes patterns and strategies for solving common problems.
  4. Delivers prototypes and Proofs of Value for the future state of technology. Demonstrates thought leadership and innovation with an emphasis on emerging technologies, industry innovation that can drive profitability, productivity and efficiency
  5. Responsible for the development and implementation of standards, procedures, and processes for the Systems Engineering group.
  6. Provides guidance on technical design alternatives, including build vs. buy decisions.
  7. Leads efforts to simplify creation and management of application stacks through templates and automated actions.
  8. Participates in the development of requisitions, bids, specifications, and the negotiation, administration, and evaluation of contracts for equipment and services.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field.
  2. Eight 8 + years of Enterprise Architecture experience, preferably with a specialization in building scalable internet applications as well as a thorough understanding of the end to end architecture stack, architectural design patterns and anti-patterns.
  3. Proven experience in working as a change agent and ability to create, modify, or change process and procedures within a development area.
  4. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
  5. Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles. Can get messages across that have the desired effect.
  6. Ability to step up to conflicts, seeing them as opportunities. Reads situations quickly. Good at focused listening. Can hammer out tough agreements and settle disputes equitably. Can find common ground and get cooperation with minimum noise.
  7. Ability to blend people into teams when needed. Creates strong morale and spirit in his/her team. Shares wins and successes. Fosters open dialogue. Holds people accountable for finishing projects with excellence. Defines success in terms of the whole team. Creates a feeling of belonging in the team.

Constructs compelling development plans and executes them. Actively coaches and mentors direct reports to higher levels of performance and career growth.
  9. Ability to accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects. Sets objectives and goals. Breaks down work into the process steps. Develops schedules and task/people assignments. Anticipates and adjusts for problems and roadblocks. Measures performance against goals. Evaluates results.
  10. Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. Can see hidden problems. Conducts excellent analysis. Looks beyond the obvious and pursues multiple solutions to find the best answer.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to EVP Admininstrative Officer *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
