GENERAL SUMMARY:
The IT Applications Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, integrity and support of DARTs enterprise architecture systems. Responsible for the maintenance and administration of DART's major enterprise application systems, primarily serving as the Lawson ERP Systems Administrator. Provides top level technical expertise, to include addressing and resolving complex technical issues. Develops solutions for agency enterprise systems in coordination with the technology principles, standards, and practices established by the IT Enterprise Architect. Provides formal technical guidance and informal assistance to Enterprise System Engineers. Develops Best Practices and Architecture Guidelines for solving common issues within the DART development organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains the Infor Lawson Software system and related 3rd party software, and Oracle database activities focused on carrying out approved systems design and implementation projects.
  2. Monitors overall performance of the Lawson system on a regular basis to ensure system up-time, quality efficiency, and accuracy. Revises existing systems and procedures to correct problems.
  3. Performs and/or leads complex Lawson System Foundation (LSF) and Landmark environment and application upgrades, and installs critical patches as needed. Coordinates and track patch promotion from test to production environments and adheres to IT Change Management processes.
  4. Maintains Lawson file systems, directories, log files, print files, and work files.
  5. Works with DBA, Unix Administrators, and System Engineers to define and implement backup and recovery procedures and database management and file restorations.
  6. Works with enterprise system development software, interfaces, and configures the Lawson Web Portal.
  7. Provides consultation, project lead, technical support, and training to technology team and users.
  8. Works with vendor support to diagnose and resolve software problems. Identifies, documents, resolves, and communicates solutions and system problems.
  9. Develops designs and oversees the implementation of enterprise systems. Establishes hardware and software migration best practices, designs and analyzes requirements and specifications and develops production migration procedures. Provides specifications for the acquisition of tools as required.
  10. Works with application development team to solve technical challenges with industry best practices.
  11. Addresses and resolves complex technical issues with internal/external customers, including assisting with problems escalated through the Desktop Support (Tier-1) and Network and Operations Center (Tier-2).
  12. Develops and maintains precise system documentation, guidelines and presentations for management review.
  13. Initiates and creates enterprise strategies and plans for systems administration and security. Prepares and maintains storage management plans, including routine backups, long-term archives, and disaster recovery support. Collaborates in the development and deployment of the Disaster Recovery Plan.
  14. Analyzes enterprise system performance. Develops and implements system performance improvements.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field.
  2. Seven (7) years of experience with Enterprise software development to include two (2) years of experience working in architecture capacity within an enterprise development organization.
  3. Lawson System Admin Skillset: Working experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and servers, UNIX environment and scripting, LDAP directory structure, IBM middleware components including Web Sphere, Lawson Systems Foundation, Micro Focus COBOL compiler, and BSI Tax Factory. Work experience with the Lawson application development tools such as the Lawson 4GL CASE tool, MS Add Inns, and/or Lawson Spreadsheet Designer. Work experience with Lawson Role-based security. Work experience with relational database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server, and/or DB2) and development using SQL and PL/SQL. Experience with programming languages such as COBOL, HTML, and Java/Java Script a plus. Experience with Landmark technology, LBI Dashboards, Reporting, Smart Notifications, ION, and PFI/IPA Administration preferable.
  4. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to EVP Admininstrative Officer *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
