GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides high level technical support for various network and computer infrastructure systems and platforms to include addressing and resolving complex technical issues, developing, implementing, and administering enterprise networks and systems, and providing technical expertise to internal/external contacts in a 24 hour 7 days a week operation. Provides guidance to Technical Support Specialists.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops plans and oversees the implementation of enterprise infrastructure platforms. Establishes hardware and software migration plans, designs and analyzes requirements and specifications and develops production testing and change control procedures. Provides specifications for the acquisition of tools as required.
  2. Provides Tier 3 support for the enterprise environment; including Networking, Microsoft AD, VMware vCenter, Unix etc.
  3. Manages, configures, troubleshoots network hardware and software.
  4. Addresses and resolves complex technical issues with internal/external customers, including assisting with problems escalated through the Desktop Support Develops and maintains precise system documentation, reports and presentations for management review.
  5. Initiates and creates enterprise strategies and plans for systems administration and security. Prepares and maintains storage management plans, including routine backups, long-term archives, and disaster recovery support. Collaborates in the development and deployment of the Disaster Recovery Plan.
  6. Manages the VBS network ensuring the service level expectations are met.
  7. Designs and implements network system plans for all Vehicle Business System (VBS) needs.
  8. Analyzes enterprise system performance. Develops and implements system performance improvements.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  2. Five (5) years experience with at least one of the following: Networking, Windows Server, VMware ESX, UNIX.
  3. Two certifications are required in at least one of the following: CCNA, MCSE in Windows 2003 (or higher), VMware VCP4 (or higher) or other network certification. Candidates must currently have at least one Current certification. Candidates who do not currently posses more than one of these certifications must obtain the second certification within one year of appointment for continued employment.
  4. Exemplary analytical and creative skills to find solutions to complex technical problems.
  5. Friendly, clear and courteous communicator (written and oral) who enjoys being an active member of a technical team focused on providing highly valued solutions to critical business customers and technical peers at all levels, both inside and outside of DART.
  6. Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of enterprise hardware, software, and associated equipment.
  7. Ability to work variable work hours. Available in the event of required emergency response.
  8. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
  9. Ability to make good decisions (without considering how much time it takes) based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment). Most of his/her solutions and suggestions are proven to be correct and accurate when judged over time. Sought out by others for advice and solutions.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to Head of ITS *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
