GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs data analysis of Safety data for internal and external reporting to ensure regulatory compliance as it relates to accidents and injuries for reporting purposes. Provides analytical support by collecting data from various sources to identify risks and trends to support mitigation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs analysis of data and information to support the improvement of safety processes and procedures.
  2. Performs complex analysis of data related to accidents, incidents and injuries.
  3. Responsible for reviewing, analyzing and making recommendations for accident, injury patterns crash frequencies and division performance for management review. Evaluates trends and researches causative factors for safety data.
  4. Completes benchmarking of other organizations and documents findings.
  5. Provides on-going support to the Division Level Measurement Program.
  6. Reviews and analyzes monthly and annual National Transit Database reports.
  7. Analyzes data obtained during fact-finding in relation to historical data.
  8. Develop trend reports to show progress over time and to support risk mitigation programs.
  9. Designs, develops and maintains workplace Safety (KPI) report trend data from DART reporting system.
  10. Remains current on new industry trends, methods, and technology by reading journals and attending seminars and workshops both inside and outside of DART.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

  1. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Finance, Loss Control, Safety or related field. ASP, CSP, or other industry designation preferred.
  2. Six (6) years progressively responsible transit operations experience involving management of projects, analysis of performance trends, dashboards and other transit related monitoring and analysis.
  3. Valid Texas Class C drivers license, no Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) conviction within the last sixty (60) consecutive months, not more than one DWI in their entire driving history, and not more than three (3) convictions of moving violations within the last thirty-six (36) consecutive months in order to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.
  4. Advanced level of computer skills to manage databases, utilize macros, spreadsheets.
  5. Knowledge of Risk Management Information System (RMIS) preferred.
  6. Familiar with Trapeze, Spear and other related DART software, preferred.
  7. Ability to multitask multiple priorities and reprioritize based on emerging risk.
  8. Ability to demonstrate obligation to section, division, department, and DART in handling materials and information of a confidential nature.
  9. Ability to solve basic mathematical computations and calculate basic statistics.
  10. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply federal and State statutes and regulatory requirements.
  11. Ability to be able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles. Can get messages across that have the desired effect.
  12. Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to complex professional, technical and safety issues.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to Director Operations Safety *

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
